About Us 🎀

Who we are and what we do! 🌸

Who We Are 🌸

Project Pink is a student-led organization at the University of Houston dedicated to breast cancer education, advocacy, support, and service. We are a community of students who believe awareness becomes most powerful when it turns into action. Through workshops, guest speakers, volunteering, fundraising, and outreach, our members learn about prevention and early detection, support patients, survivors, and families, and connect our campus with credible information and resources. Whether you join to serve, learn, connect, or lead, Project Pink is a place to make friends, build leadership and teamwork skills, and be part of a cause bigger than yourself.

Our Mission 💖

Project Pink’s mission is to create a meaningful impact in the fight against breast cancer through education, advocacy, service, and community involvement. We strive to raise awareness about prevention and early detection, support those affected by breast cancer, and give students opportunities to turn awareness into action. Through volunteering, fundraising, outreach, and collaboration, we hope to make a difference both on campus and within our greater community.

Our Values 🌷

At Project Pink, we believe making a difference is more meaningful when we do it together. We value compassion, service, inclusivity, education, and community while creating a space where members can form genuine friendships, develop leadership and teamwork skills, and contribute to a cause bigger than themselves. Whether you join to serve, learn, connect, or lead, there is a place for you to make an impact with Project Pink.

Breast Cancer Awareness 🎗️

The cause we advocate for! 💖

What is breast cancer? 🎗️

Breast cancer is a disease in which malignant (cancer) cells form in the tissues of the breast. There are many different types of breast cancer that can affect both women and men.

Why early detection matters 💗

To determine the extent of an individual's breast cancer and if it has spread outside of the breast, the cancer is assigned a stage upon diagnosis. The early detection of breast cancer through annual mammography and other breast exams is the best defense against receiving a late-stage breast cancer diagnosis. Generally speaking, the earlier the cancer is detected, the greater the likelihood of a successful outcome.
